Battlefield 3 is EA’s upcoming FPS game (Developed by DICE), and the third game in the Battlefield series. Battlefield 2 was the previous game of the series, and it had a lot of success. The Battlefield series offers a unique, tactical, realistic war experience that you don’t find in any other game. Surely we got the call of duty series, but that game is fixated on being a competing eSport game, with a arcade feel. It has the aspect of team working for a objective, doesn’t even apply in the game. There are also other games, that try to be a realistic, big warfield FPS yet the thing that they lack, is the fun and addictive feel that Battlefield gives you.FPS gamers all over the world have waited 6 years for a new big landscaped, realistic, non-arcade’ish war game. With the physics and graphics that appeals to the current generation of gaming Battlefield 3 is known to offer this in the game.
People show a wide shared interest for this game, and it will probably be marked as the most anticipated FPS game of this year. (Nominated to about 40, and won 20 awards on e3 2011)

New FPS engine, gives you great joy!
Battlefield 3, does give you a graphic engine that is better than the best games out there. When you play the game, it feels like that the graphics are even better than what you get in the real world. You might ask “the textures can’t be that good, now can it?”. The textures ain’t what brings life into the world. But the small effects like shades, lighting and cinematic rendering is what shapes the graphics of the world.
It also gives you a physic engine that is ridiculous good. You can even pop a grenade into a wall over the enemy, and the enemy will die of the falling bricks that hits him. Or if you saw a camper went behind a wall, well then you can just blast it all gone.
And not to mention the animation. It’s just jaw dropping. While jumping over a fence, stabbing someone with a knife or jumping down from a tall place, you can see your hands and feet doing the maneuvers. They have tried to make it feel like you are watching everything you are doing from a helmetcam. Other nice features is bullet drop, recoil on weapons, suppressive fire, sniperscope blinks from distance and other neat things, which makes the game realistic. Though, on the other hand. Some small things bug me, for example when you throw a grenade on some wooden doors in a toilet booth, they are suddenly made of the best metal in the world, and there’s not even a scratch on them after the explode. But still, the physics are the best I’ve seen so far.
Even the audio is just insane. While lying behind a cower, you will feel the bullets flying over you because of the realistic sound effects combined with the suppressive fire feature (your screen becomes blurry when bullets is inches away from your face). And they have received many awards for their sound systems.

Everything sounds so awesome, so the game must be perfect?
But is all of these features enough to create a new Battlefield? They tried some of those features with Bad company 2, and that game didn’t live up to the Battlefield name.
In the rush mode, there are not many things that are different from the bad company 2 feel. There is not needed a very tactical maneuver to get down a bomb site. (like, you need to get control over the hill looking down at the east enemy lines, to even have a chance at planting the bomb). Everything was just a plain rush and win game (yes, the game mode is rush. But when the rush mode just gives you a call of duty feel. then maybe Battlefield should not implement it?)
Also, the supporting and teamwork feel of the game is lost. People is running around with the best guns, and not trying to take cover when they are taking hits, just to get the kills. Where is the tactical movement in the squads, where is the supporting medic (called assault in Battlefield 3) and where is the resurrections? But I think that the players are from the Call of duty generation, and don’t know what they are doing. That’s why it’s so good that there are dedicated servers, who can kick out jerks like that (and they can join a noob server). Plus I don’t think that could happen in a clan vs clan fight.
And also, the 3d spotting feature (gives your enemy a red triangle over its head when he is spotted) is a both bad and a good feature. Yes, it’s almost impossible to spot a enemy in the bushes. So when you first see one, you want to let your team where he is (at least I would in the real life). But for the enemy sniper, it’s so fun when you got the best hiding place in the game. And one guy saw you, then suddenly 40 people is pointing their gun at you.
The rush mode did not bring the battlefield 2 feeling back. So far the game is just bad company 2 with better game engine. But still, this game is a hell of a FPS. Maybe the best one I’ve ever tried. Maybe my nostalgic memory of Battlefield 2, blur my vision of how a new Battlefield game should look like.
Because this game offers the best action filled war experience, you could ever imagine. After a game in the rush mode, your hands are sweat, your brain are tired and the only thing you want to do is: do one more match.

Some other features that Battlefield 3 includes, is the battleLog feature, campaign mode and a co-op mode. But I’m not going to do any details on them. I just know that the campaign missions looks freakin’ awesome. And the battleLog feature is the best social network ever created for a game. (I believe that CoD: Elite might be better, but hey, battleLog is free and CoD: Elite is not).

Conclusion:
The game got a lot of high expectations. From both old veterans and new people who just want do a massive massacre on the battlefield. I would recommend the game for both of these gamer types. Because this game got something that could entertain every piece of braincell in your head. And that is what I think DICE was going for.
I would not recommend the rush mode for the old veterans. But if you just want to take a day off from your online military service. Then go for the rush mode. Because in that mode, you can do the job yourself, or do it as a team. (I do believe that this mode will be very good for clan vs clan fights).
So this game got something for everyone. Plus, do keep in mind that there is also other game modes that will appeal to the veterans as well.

So all in all, this is the best and most realistic warfare game out there. It have lived up to the battlefield name so far. And I do not think that anyone will be disappointed when buying this game.
